Rails Restaurant

You are here Home  > Restaurants and Bars >  Rails Restaurant

The restaurant, housed in a building that’s more than a century and a half old, is home to a ghostly little girl. She has been seen in the parking lot as well as the back of the restaurant, and wears a white dress and a hair bow. She is believed by some researchers to be 8-year-old Jennie, who died of typhoid fever in the 1800s. She plays pranks such as moving objects, and witnesses have heard her laughing.

  1. I owned Primrose Antiques at 123 East Main in Lagrange, for about 15 years. I lived upstairs over my shop. Where my kitchen was located would have lined up with the back of the Rails Restaurant, which is three doors up from the building I owned. I had several things happen in the area of my kitchen. Straight across from my kitchen I had a childs stool with an antique doll sitting on it. There were several mornings, over the years, I would find the doll facing the wall. It was only my husband and myself living there so I know no one tampered with it. My kitchen cabinets had glass doors and one evening I was preparing supper, my husband hadn’t gotten home yet. I looked up and saw a man’s reflection in the glass door. I spun around , thinking someone was there but no one was behind me. He had a handle bar mustache, it happened so fast that’s all I noticed. There were several times when I was downstairs in my shop my sister and I would hear children laughing upstairs. My building had once been the D.W. Griffith movie theater so I thought the laughter may have had something to do with that. While I lived there I didn’t really talk about what was going on, except to my family. Recently I have been hearing about other peoples experiences in that area of Main St. so I decided to share the things that happened to me.
