Prospect Hill Cemetery

In July of 1874, the Omaha Daily Bee newspaper reported a ghostly “woman in white” at the Prospect Hill Cemetery. She was seen from an adjacent marble-cutting shop, coming from the cemetery straight toward the shop’s door. The frightened shop occupants hurried out the back, but the ghost appeared before them, asking them where her children were. One man pulled out a gun and shot at the ghost, which did nothing, so they followed her to the cemetery where she disappeared. The ghost came back again the next night; after that, the men decided to go someplace else to sleep at night.

  1. Agreed the place is haunted but your story is not true of P’ Hill Cemetery….. firstly, why would a Nebraska News paper write about this? Secondly, though not true of Prospect Hill it is an allegedly true story for a place in Nebraska. Just sayin, you may want to look into it, so you’re not misinforming folks. But there are a lot of places in this area that are very old and I would call haunted. Thanks, and thank you for the website there is a ton of cool stuff on here.

    • i agree with Pratt I live down the road from Prospect Hill in Gloversville ! And I thnk the story is about Prospect Hill cemetery in Nebraska as well!!

  2. Ican say from my own experience that it IS haunted because I lived in it and next to it I will say it was never a scary presence but it was there see I was homeless and used to sleep in there and could feel it all around me to the point I started a fire on the back skirts from there and something woke me befor myself and the woods set fire and another incident I am ashamed of I took an angel figurine and a dollor in metals to eat felt so bad but hungry 2 days later ran into a woman in the store and the worst thing was I helped her with her cart and she told me the story of the stolen angels that she couldn’t understand why someone would take them cause they were not worth money but everything to her cause that was something her and her beloved both wanted I cried and begged her to forgive me she said something I will never forget she said I understand been there to hunny we got the angels back with lots of hard work because I pawned them I cooked and cleaned but could never take away the guilt I felt and still feel but we went together and put the angels back and with her heart she said he knows and he forgives you I cried and we held hands out off that cemetery went to palace diner and had lunch together that night she passed her name was ophara never learned her last name but what a woman so if you don’t believe in the cemetery being haunted she still walks it just look for her thanks for reading this its true
