The 1762 Proprietary House was the home of William Franklin, son of Benjamin Franklin, New Jersey’s last royal Governor from 1762 to 1777. It is said to be haunted by ghosts of a Revolutionary War soldier, a woman who stands in the dining room window, and a little boy in blue who once let in a delivery man and led him to the third floor.

Hi! I thought I would share with you what happened to me at the Proprietary house in Perth amboy NJ approximately 2 years ago. I had met with a woman in the offices on the second floor. After the meeting I was walking back through the rear parking lot to my car. I had the distinct feeling of being watched. I knew the stories and so I decided to snap a few pictures with my iPhone. I took about 10. Later on, this particular photo showed something I can’t explain. In the lower right corner of the window you can clearly make out a little boy, with his hand pressed against the glass. You can even make out individual fingers. You can see his little face with longish hair and even make out the color of his shirt. I am positive there was nobody in any of the windows when I was standing there. What do you think???

    • i had a tour of the proprietary house in 2019 and i felt cold spots in the art room and the living room area I also had the same experience as you As I was walking through the parking lot i too saw the boy with his hand pressed against the window looking out there is a room on the third floor that is closed off to the general public when a woman told me it was closed off I asked her why and she looked troubled and sad when i asked her and her answer was i really can’t say why but something happened in that room

  2. While I have never had any paranormal experiences in this place, I know a few people who have and I’ve spoken personally with the people who maintain the place. There’s definitely something creepy going on there.
