Proctor Valley Road

You are here Home  > Miscellaneous >  Proctor Valley Road

If you follow this road, it becomes more and more desolate. There are four stories about the cases of paranormal activity you’ll possibly encounter. The first two involve women, one being a woman in blue who is seen crying for help, and the other is said to be a banshee capable of shutting the power off of vehicles. The other two involves a ball of fire that moves around by itself and a pair of headlights that will chase you as you drive down the road. Take caution before you come down here!

  1. Ive investigated that road….one night a group of us were driving down the road to find areas to investigate and my friends jeep suddenly died ….as well as caught one picture of a partial female face and long hair ….also seen a black mass moving across the road and when we shined our flashlights at it…the lights did not seem to penetrate it . that occurred close to the last house on the right side of the road if your going south from jamul to Chula vista. The female face we caught was near a bridge I think closer to Chula vista .

      Hi Dameon,

I’m doing a documentary on Proctor Valley and would love to take a look at the photo. Any possibility of you posting it/sending it to me?

Back in the 1960s, as the stories go, there was at least one murder or killing late at night in Proctor Valley where the victim was shreaded and found bleeding on top of a car. There is probably a police report somewhere if you look for it. This was caused by what people called the Proctor Valley Monster. I think it was most likely a bear attack, there were actually bears in San Diego County until about 1970.

There was a story years ago, I remember it being in the 1970s. Supposedly a young man probably in high school and his girlfriend had ran out of gas in the boyfriend’s car one night, on the Bonita side of Proctor Valley Road, wich is also the Chula Vista end. The boyfriend told the girlfriend to stay here with the car and I’ll walk to find gas somewhere. Well, after an hour or so the wind began to pick up a little bit. The girlfriend was scared because of this scratching or scraping noise on top of the car roof. She assumed it was just a tree branch touching the car as the wind blew causing this noise. After a few hours, the boyfriend still not back with gas, she decided to get out of the car. When she looked up to see what causing the noise the boyfriend was hanging from the eucalyptus tree (if I remember correctly) upside down by his feet and his finger nails were causing the noise she heard. As the story goes he was dead hanging from the tree. Don’t know how exactly he was murdered or how he got there without the girlfriend noticing anything.

Now I have heard later on that this story was made up, to keep us teenagers back in the day from using this area or location as a “make out” spot. Wich it was quite effective in doing just that !!! Lol.
I used to ride mini bikes/ motorcycles with my dad when I was in 1st grade around 1972 till probably around 1977 they posted the area for no off road vehicle activity. They were starting to develop the land into single family home sites. I have heard of the Proctor Valley Monster. I don’t recall him being mentioned in the story of the boyfriend murdered. He could have been an added guest actor to make the story more intense in a later version? .
