A group of robbers called “hatchet men” would lure locals and sailors into the woods before slaughtering them and emptying their pockets. The ghosts of the hatchet men as well as some officers from the local RAF base are seen in this forest, usually as shadows.

  1. I have had multiple experiences here over the years, mostly by myself and occasionally with a few friends. I have seen shadow figures, my dogs have picked up on them and one of my dogs even ran at one.
