Old Kosciusko County Jail and Museum

You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  Old Kosciusko County Jail and Museum

The Old Kosciusko County Jail was in operation from 1870 to 1982. In 1982 the new Justice Building was completed and took over the housing of the inmates. The Old Jail subsequently became the home of the Kosciusko Historical Society now shares the county Genealogy Library. Employees, volunteers and visitors alike report frequent instances of unexplained footsteps, voices, the sense of being touched, apparitions and shadowy figures. Documentation has been uncovered to support the tales of two known suicides – one a murder/suicide – as well a lynching. The Historical Society has approved the opening of the doors to paranormal investigations by enlisting the help of Warsaw Indiana Paranormal Research and Studies (WIPRS) to oversee and schedule individuals and small groups who wish to find and document anomalous activity. Contact can be made through the Historical Society or through the website of www.wiprs.com.
