  1. This place is certainly haunted. I recall visiting the manor homecoming night in 1997. Two friends and myself were bored and decided to see if the rumors of the manor being haunted were true. We were life long residence of Franklin, yet never dared visiting the “Governor’s Plantation” because of all the stories that circulated pertaining to it and the nightly occurrences. Around midnight we drove upon the estate and rested our vehicle in front of a huge, aged moss tree that resided between a folk in the decrepit road. My friend turned off the vehicle and we merely sat joking around like normal high school country seniors. Moments into our unexpected trip/impromptu comedy fest, we all simultaneously witnessed small orbs floating towards the car. No big deal, until the car was started, highlights automatically turned on, and we all saw what appeared to be slavish figures hanging from the huge, aged multiple branched moss tree. In a frantic rage, we screamed of horror and zoomed away from the manor. That night, my friends and I returned home spooked and never mentioned what happened on Katy Curve (Irish Bend Road)(The road that leads to the plantation). We finally talked about it 4 years later when traveling to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom (We joined the National Guards on the buddy system and was immobilized following 9/11). Needless to say, homecoming night of 1997 will forever remain etched in my collection of fond memories.
