Oakhurst Grange School

You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  Oakhurst Grange School

A private prep school for boys and girls ages 4-11 it seems unremarkable. however the building itself experienced several odd events after the late 1990’s.

The attic was renovated into a large art studio after years of neglect and there were several reports of students and faculty a like catching a glimpse of a tall, shrouded figure, soon dubbed “the blue lady’ in the back corners.

The hall was often rented out for social events but one Sunday in 1998 the bursar got a call from a neighbor of the school who complained about the noise from a late party with a piano playing at 2 am. This was alarming as all functions had to be over by 11pm and there had been no function scheduled that night but the alarms had not been tripped and the security tapes showed no signs of anyone entering the building.

  1. to follow up on the above story, my father was the burser the night in question and I was visiting from New York where I was working private investigations. I went with him to check out the school. There were no alarms on the windows to get into the function hall, but they did prevent someone there from going deeper into the school.

The piano itself was actually a little dusty except for a space on the foot boards that looked vaguly like foot marks were on it. i suggested maybe it was the ghost of the cleaner because she seemes to have not made it this far.

while my dad was checking the mundane things liek tapes I walked about outside. there was no sign of windows being forced and I concluded if you knew where the cameras were and didn’t mind crawling through a hedge it was possible to get to a couple of the windows without coming in range of the cameras BUT it seems like a heck of thing to do just to play the piano in the middle of the night.
