Murphy Inn

You are here Home  > Hotels and Inns >  Murphy Inn

This inn was formerly a boardinghouse that opened in 1836. The Irish-themed inn and pub has a resident ghost that has been seen in just about every guest room. Folks say the most often-haunted rooms, though, are the Lancaster Room and the Devonshire Room. The ghost is said to be a friendly spirit.

  1. Mrs. ,(mom says Ms.), Murphy.
Mom tells me she has said, “hello”, to her when she went into those “haunted” rooms, (A respectful gesture).
Mom says there’s a long story with the Murphys Inn ghost(s).
She said right off the bat when I asked her again about the place being haunted: “Room 306”. Then, she said, “there is also another, like 307”.
Currently she is frying hamburger so I have to wait until she is done to get this, “long story”, again. I know I’ve heard it before.
I decided to post on here to give a little backbone to this story for any viewers.
Honestly, I’ve never ventured upstairs. I go there for their food and I recommend that anyone around the thumb area take the time out to go to Murphy’s Inn. I do not know if people can rent out those haunted rooms or not, but, I guess it’s worth asking them if the rooms are available.

  2. My friend and I stayed the night there and never experienced anything weird, no creepy vibes, even stayed in one of their “most haunted” rooms. This isn’t a knock to the place itself. The staff was very nice and welcoming, the food and service was great at the bar. I’d recommend stopping in if you find yourself in the area! I just don’t believe it’s haunted.
