The former Mater Dei College, later the Academy at Ivy Ridge, was a school for troubled teens. Reports are unclear as to its status today, but the building is said to still stand, with plenty of ghosts inside. Witnesses claim that there is a ghost boy, a phantom nun, a presence that watches visitors in the library, and the sound of a woman screaming and crying.

  1. 110% confirmed Haunted. The Nun has always been there. The boy is chilling in the Main facility. A student on the Girls side committed suicide . Yes that is a very sad area. You feel it as soon as you are in the library. A dark eerie Presence. Also all Children who were abused at this facility and died upon being released have come back here to occupy the Ridge. R.I.P. MY COMRADES R.I.P. TO ALL ABUSE VICTIMS 2001-2009

  3. I worked there from 2005 to 2009 when it closed down as Night Watch (Security) that place made a believer out of me. I was sceptical when I first started and everyone warned me it was Haunted. That changed after a couple of months when I had my first experience there. The campus was split into two dorms. I was alone in dorm 2 and looked towards the stairwell, when a head flew at me, yelling “Heeeeeey!” and vanished. After that stuff happened every night. I’d hear talking coming out of rooms and when I investigated the rooms were empty. The boys locker room in Dorm 1, I would hear a women crying and when I would walk in, it would stop. Newer staff members would report to me that they heard the woman crying and all I could tell them was “I know but it stops when anyone goes in”. The door to the supervisors office door would slam shut on me when no one else was around. Lights to various offices and classrooms would turn on and off on their own. The cupboards in the computer lab would open and slam shut on their own, while I was watching. Other staff and myself could hear a man and a women shouting and arguing in a stairwell when no one was in the stairwell. Near the gym I would hear what sounded like sheet metal being dragged across the floor and the minute I got to the gym, it would stop and nothing to be found. I saw a boy crouching in a closet, he was wearing 1920’s clothing, He reached up and touched my arm before fading away. Others have reported seeing him walking around. The library always felt cold and kind of muggy. The atmosphere felt heavy and even though I was always alone in there, I felt like I was in a crowd. By the main doors I would often hear singing and could not find where it was coming from and one night I heard a jolly “Helloooooooo!” and no else was there.Other staff members would report hearing and seeing the same things that I had witnessed. I am definitely a believer of the paranormal because of that place.

  4. I worked here for about 6 months before it closed down and YES strange things happened. A pencil flew off of my desk and hit the wall as I was talking to other staff members.
The hair on the back of my neck would stand up when I was alone in any area. It always felt like someone was watching me.
Also- the library was soooo eerie! Definitely some paranormal activity going on.
