King George II Inn

You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  King George II Inn

This circa 1681 inn is said to be the oldest continually operating inn in the U.S. And with a title like that, it’s bound to have a few ghosts around. Folks here have seen the apparition of a man wearing a top hat and tails. They’ve also witnessed chairs and silverware that move by themselves, pictures that fly off the walls, and doors that slam shut when no one is there.

  2. I worked in the office upstairs and never heard or saw anything. I was friends with one of the former owners who also thought it was nonsense and nobody in the family ever experienced any paranormal phenomena. The staff once mentioned the sounds of a baby crying coming from one of the upstairs banquet rooms but when I heard what they were talking about and went in to check it out it was from the wind blowing through a window with only a storm window on it and no inside sash window. The owner had to get it replaced and had not gotten around to it yet. It is a beautiful inn and all the historical information is true. Great food and atmosphere and I’d recommend it to anyone for that.
