James Cowan Theatre

You are here Home  > Miscellaneous >  James Cowan Theatre

The James Cowan Theatre and adjacent mansion the Ceperley House lie atop the former site of an orphanage run by cult leader William Frank Wolsey, a convicted bigamist who fraudulently called himself Archbishop John I. The man abused the boys at the orphanage in every way, and their spirits are said to remain here. The good news is that Grace Ceperley is a ghost here as well, and tries to console the ghostly orphans. Witnesses have described apparitions, screams, laughter, voices, footsteps, unexplained thuds, moving objects, paintings that come off the walls suddenly, lights and lawn sprinklers that work on their own, and much more.
