A friendly ghost, C.Y. Stephens himself, in fact, is known to haunt this auditorium. He has been seen in the basement tunnels or sitting in the back right corner of the 3rd balcony. He also makes himself known by cold spots and the sound of footsteps. When performers see him, it is said to be a sign of good luck.

  2. I used to work at CY Stephens as a stagehand in college. I remember being on stage and looking up at the upper balcony and seeing a man sitting there in the far back right seat. I thought it was odd, since the auditorium is huge, and there was no one else there aside from the people setting up the stage for a performance. I saw him clear as day, looked away for a second, and when I looked back, he was gone. In that amount of time, a person would not have been able to get up and walk out of the balcony without being seen. Not long after, I was researching haunted places and what I learned about CY Stephens Auditorium helped explain what I had seen! The reports matched my experience almost exactly.

  3. I knocked on a door near the upstairs dressing room three times and said cy stevens three times. The door was locked, but somebody knocked back very softly. I then heard footsteps coming from above me. I ran. I heard someone scream, so I screamed. But nobody was there.
