Hotel Indigo - Martha Washington Hotel

You are here Home  > Hotels and Inns >  Hotel Indigo - Martha Washington Hotel

This hotel dates back to 1926, but has had several names – “Martha Washington Hotel,” “Heritage Hotel,” and now, most recently, “Hotel Indigo”. A 1987 renovation seems to have led to the appearance of a ghostly little girl, seen on the third-floor landing. Later, the figures of an older man and a woman in a wheelchair were seen in the lobby.

  1. I sayed here back in 2012. Around 3 AM there were sounds of children giggling and 2 sets of loud footsteps running the halls. I checked with the clerk in the morning, and being low season, I was one of 4 occupied rooms on the floor. Quite an eerie feeling throughout as well. Amazing hotel though, if you get a chance to stay here, DO IT!

  2. I stayed here and heard the door handle being twisted like someone was trying to get in around 3:00 am. I ran to the door thinking that possible a drunk person was lost. When I looked out the peep hole no one was there.

  3. I remodled the hotel and changed it from the heritage hotel to the hotel indigo. my crew and i experienced many things from door knocks on adjoining rooms to ours that were being remodled to going to bed with the bathroom lights off and door shut only to wake with lights on and door open. Strange cigar smells and running footsteps with no one there. Housekeepers and employees wouldnt work alone and pizza delivery called us from lobby refusing to come onto our floor which was the 3rd. very interesting building never a quiet night stayed there 3 months.

  4. May 21, 2017….my husband and I stayed in rm 103, at 1:30 in tge morning he woke up to someone getting into bed with him and holding his hand. Very cold, sandpaper like skin. He looked over and sawit wasn’t me, and looked back and now his hand was on the pillow. Then a cold rush enveloped his whole body and someone was holding his feet together. He knew it was a woman, due to the feel of her hands. He’s never experienced anything like this and I am sooo jealous! ! Lovely hotel too.
