Hotel Congress

Hotel Congress is probably best known for the role it played in the capture of John Dillinger and his gang of outlaws, but there are apparently several ghosts who lay claim to the Congress. At least two suicides there have reportedly led to hauntings in the rooms in which they took place (Rooms 214 and 242). A long-term resident also died in the hotel and it is claimed that his ghost also still lingers.

      • I Spent a couple of days writing in a room at the Congress. I lay on the bed and closed my eyes for a moment, when someone leaned down over my face and growled, ‘Hey!”

    1. I was walking along the sidewalk one winter night and I coulda sworn I saw a man looking out the 2nd story window dressed in old fashioned clothing while smoking a cigar. I looked again and he had disappeared.

    2. My friend and I stayed in room 242 back in 2010 and captured one EVP. We recorded approximately seven hours of audio and captured a male voice whispering something that lasted two seconds. Can’t make out what the voice is saying but definitely sounds like a human male. Very cool. Also remember hearing the metal shower curtain rings moving with nobody in the bathroom.
