The 1840s Horace Williams House was the home of University of North Carolina’s Philosophy Department chairman and taught future renowned author Thomas Wolfe. Williams is said to haunt his former home, moving objects around, rocking a rocking chair and flushing toilets.

  1. I used to cater events at this house from time to time. Had a wine glass inexplicably shatter with no one near it. I’ve also heard the toilets flush by themselves.

  2. We attended this place for a dinner event some time back.We had a bottle of wine on our table just tip over by itself, spilling all of the wine. There were seven of us at the table and we all just stared at each other when it happened. No one bumped the table, no one was even reaching for the bottle, it was just sitting on the table and it just tipped over by itself. We told the waiter and he just shook his head and replaced the bottle.It was something that made you go”Hmm..”
