    • Ricky Bell MY dad we lived up there, he was a trucker, & we knew of this well. We used to set & listen to the C.B. & hear truck Drivers freaking out on radio. I know some where put on but not all. I know a many of TRUCKERS that would bypass this section of hwy#5 because of the ghost woman & other things that always happened in that area.

I found out that an author was able to determine the year that she was killed in was 1990. The 1996 book is called Angels and Apparitions: True Ghost Stories from the South written by Barbara Duffey.

Like you, I am still trying to locate her name as no one seems to have it which could mean this is a fake story and folks imagination has influenced their emotions, thinking, and even their central nervous system to make them physically ill or feel strange. Unless someone can show a name and confirm the year that the named person died then it’s sadly an old tale. In 1990, records of such pedestrian accidents are recorded and easy to locate.

  1. My daddy drives a truck so I know the story. Supposedly a lady got into an arguement with her husband at the dragstrip on a foggy night and left for home by herself. When she got near the road a coal truckdriver hit and killed her. They say that she haunted that stretch of highway stepping up on the side of trucks and peering in the window of the cab looking for the man that hit her. Years later the driver that hit her confessed and she stopped looking for him.

    • That’s the story, but I never heard of him confessing? I do know I grew up there & Know what dad as a trucker driver experienced, because I was with him, & other drivers. Some drivers would go to hwy#13 to keep from going through this area on hwy#5. Which at that Time was way way outta the way & much longer.

  2. I found this website trying to do research to see what actually happened on Highway 5 in Alabama. I have never been one to believe in ghost but I have experienced this particular one. before I experienced this I had never heard of this ghost story.after my experience I talked to another trucker that was familiar with that area and he told me all about it

Do you have her first and last name as no one seems to have it. One researcher and author determined that she was killed in 1990; however, no name. In 1990 such incidents are easily retrieve and still no one has her name

  3. My daddy told me the story about this and he told me that one night that one of his friends was on the road and he came down this one real late at night and he told me that his friend stopped the truck because he seen a woman standing in the middle of the road and she was just starring at the truck and my dad said that the women kept getting closer then all of a sudden the women appeared in front of his gear shift looking up at him to see if it was the trucker who had hit her his friend was so scared that the next day his hair was completely white from being scared to death i thought my dad was pulling my leg

  4. I too had felt her presents on that Hwy on night.I drive tricks and came that way getting around the construction on 78 at the time and I felt her presents in my truck

    • I know 30+ years I lived around there, & dad was a trucker. I had experiences in vehicles, & many unexplainable deaths due to big truck & car wrecks. I remember many wrecks, the driver would always say a woman or something appeared, as we on fire department rescued them.

  5. I remember when I was a small child riding with my mom and Dad on a trip while I was out of school. I’ve looked for this place alot since I’ve gotten older. My Dad has passed on now and my mom never knew the location. We were traveling through Alabama late one night, it was nasty raining and foggy. The hwy was narrow. We could see something up ahead because it was almost glowing. When we got to it, it was a woman in a long snow white dress that reached to the ground. It was raining and muddy, but she was so clean. She was standing on the edge of the road, like on the white line. She never did anything, just stood there. Never could see her in the side mirrors of the truck. A memory I will never forget.

  6. I GREW UP A COUPLE MILES SOUTH OF LYNN, RICKY BELL IS MY DAD & I KNOW FOR A FACT WHAT HE & ALL TRUCKERS HAVE TOLD ME ABOUT THIS, & IT’S TRUE IN MY OPINION. I HAVE HAD INCIDENTS WITH THIS AREA DEALING WITH #5 Ghostwoman to OUR LAND WHICH IS EXACTLY WHERE THIS GHOST WOMEN IS AS WELL IS HAUNTED BY INDIANS OR SOMETHING, SO WAS OUR HOUSE THAT BURNT UP IN NAUVOO, IT SOUNDED LIKE HELL AS IT BURNT, SCREAMING SCARY STUFF!! #ThaBellBrothers Jon & Myself know anything you need to know in this area!!
WE CAN PROVE THERE’S MORE THAN JUST 1 GHOST, OR ENTITIEY!!
    SINCERELY,
Jon Bell & Greg Bell #ThaBellBrothers··

  7. OH KNOW PF MANY TRUCKERS THAT WOULD BYPASS THIS SECTION OF#5Hwy & I grew up where this happened. My dad was a trucker, we used to listen to c.B. at night, because it was lonely on that road at night & still is but they would come on radio tripping out scared to death, seriously! That’s just the tip of the iceberg of the paranormal activity that happens around here! Vanishing people, people found mutilated, & worse, devil worshippers, & the area in the woods they done it, oh INDIANS haunt as well this Area!
I have proof & people need to know these things, & get some closure!

  8. THIS IS SOMETHING WE EXPERIENCED GROWING UP, & I KNOW PEOPLE THAT ARE SCARED OF THIS, & WE KNOW ALL THE DETAILS & STORY’S THAT ARE REAL! WE LIVED IT!
GOD PROTECTED US THOUGH, EVEN THOUGH MY DAD WAS IN A WRECK IN THIS AREA & DIED 3 TIMES & IS NOW IN NURSUNG HOME! HE KNOWS ALL ABOUT THIS GHOST WOMEN, & EVERYTHING ABOUT hwy#5

  9. My late husband drove truck . While I was on the truck with him I was told this story by another driver but I was told that her husband was the driver of the truck that hit her.
I experienced her stepping on the side of the truck while we drove that section of highway. She looked in, looked at me smiled and disappeared. She made me almost jump out of my skin. Not funny at all.
I have told my kids of this experience many times, which they did not believe until they read about it.
    Now they believe me…

  10. You hear many stories but the one that sticks out more as real is this. In town there is a store that a newspaper article talks about a girl named Beth. She was going to meet her friends at her prom she had a flat tire and a trucker came to supposedly help her. He killed her then drove off. The police believe the truck was a tank because of the tread on the tires left imprinted on side of road. A man who has collected cans for money came across her body. Her parents have the newspaper article taped in their store. By the race track sits her parents store.

  11. I’ve lived around here my entire life and have not ONCE heard of this until now… This is so fake. I know a lot of truck drivers and nothing like this has ever happened to them on Hwy 5. Who even came up with this? Faaaaaaaaaake

  12. I have a dash cam video from the inside of a truck my son sent me. a couple drivers that drive for the same company he drives for captured what looks like a ghost girl wearing a long white dress carrying a backpack. walking across the road they thought they hit somebody when they got out nobody was there. they called 911 and the cops told them others have reported seeing the samething. they said a girl was hit and killed there some years back and the trucker didn’t stop. its a weird video puts chills on me. this happened in alabama.

  13. i personally seen her walking and offered her a ride she rode til i got to drag strio she wanted out she lived close and was waiting on a truck driver with the handle scooter

  14. I was on my way to pick up a house at the trailer plant early in the morning before daylight when my escort driver left the road in front of me 2min before I got there when I got out to see she was alright I ask her what happened .she said saw a woman stepped out in front of her from the edge of the road and she swerved to miss her and lost control. At first I didn’t know what to believe. Because there was no one around then I heard about the story of the lady ghost on hwy 5 and it made my hair stand up. And as it did my escort driver.

  16. I install cancer treatment equipment and happened to be traveling hwy 5 just before midnight on a Fri this past fall. Had never heard about this girl or the road being haunted. I was driving and my helper had just put his phone down so he could get a little rest. Thankfully it wasn’t a full minute after putting his phone down when we see a lady in the left lane facing to the right but not moving! We both freak out! I slowed down a little but my passenger just said no! Way! Keep going! I asked if he noticed whether or not he was able to see her face! He tells me,”she doesn’t have a face bro!” I didn’t want to say it because I wasn’t sure if I just didn’t notice but I thought she did have a face!!! Maybe we just couldn’t see it but I plainly remember her almost looking pixilated! Like it was a hologram or something! Will never forget it and was so glad to not be the only one to see it! He would’ve told me I was crazy had he been asleep!
