Goodman House Bed and Breakfast

The former owner, George Vogelsang, fell down the stairs and died in the late 1950’s. He has been reported here ever since. A psychic once picked up that there was the spirit of a kind man and a light presence of a woman; both are harmless.

  1. In 1982 I went to Chico State. For work I cleaned offices at night with two other women. The Goodman house scared the beegeeits out of us. One night I was vacuuming on the main floor in what was the law office’s library. Some how a floor grate was moved and my leg went down into the vent. I shook it off thinking one of the other ladies must have cleaned the wood floor and it was removed. I worked my way into the kitchen and a wall heater turned on and shot out sparks burning my arm. I turned off the wall heater and called to my coworkers to ask them if they turned the wall heater on or moved the heating grate. As two of us were talking one of the other gals went out to the van to check on her dog. Just then a woman dressed in 1930’s clothing came in. I can’t remember why we didn’t stop her but she proceeded up the stair case. I should say floated. Just then the gal with her dog came in. We were asking her if she knew who the lady was that just went up the stairs. She was about to answer but her dog started going ballistic and ran up stairs. We could hear the dog barking. The other two girls went up stairs to retrieve the dog. When the one gal came down she called the call number for the law office to tell them about the woman that went up stairs and we couldn’t find. A representative from the office came out and confirmed that there was no one in side. I quit. I didn’t go back.

  2. Some friends and I were collecting ghost stories around town as part of a class project back ing the mid-1990’s. According to stories several women who worked there (It was a law office for many years) had been “goosed” by an invisible entity as they went up or down the stairway. Most of the time it seemed good natured but a couple of them felt violated.
