German Roman Catholic Orphan Asylum

You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  German Roman Catholic Orphan Asylum

The mid-1800s German Roman Catholic Orphan Asylum closed in 1956, and the buildings were used as a preparatory seminary until the complex was sold to a private owner in the 1990s. It is said to be haunted by colorful orbs that show up in photos, unexplained noises, and sounds of water running through the building when no water services were in operation.

      • Looks to be owned by Belmonte. Refurbished buildings, new buildings, and such. At least from what I can see on google earth. I will do a drive by later this week though to see of there is anything of interest.

    2. My Mother took me in there when I was approx.6 or 7 yrs old. I remember going up long staircases and going in the rooms where the orphans stayed, It was very plain with several beds. Floors were all wood. I mostly remember it being spooky to me, after all it was big, quiet and all I could think of was being a orphan with no family and staying there.
I have one question, the picture where the organ was did anyone save those books? I love old books and would be willing to buy them if possible. It’s kind of a memory of my neighborhood growing up. I grew up on Northampton and Roehrer at 470. bodiamond@verizon.net thank yoou
