General Nathanael Greene Homestead is believed to be haunted. Witnesses who have worked at or visited the house museum say strange things happen here. The baby carriage in Elizabeth Margaret’s room has moved, for one thing. Other things that have happen here include apparitions, door latches opening, voices, footsteps, and the sound of a phantom carriage driving up to the house. The smell of baking bread has inexplicably filled the unused kitchen.

  1. I lived directly across the street from the homestead. Interesting tidbit years ago when I was a kid, we use to go manhunting in the cemetery back there. My brother and I found a dead body, and later learned he was murdered.

  2. I’ve experienced many things in the woods behind the homestead… My most memorable was a white , featureless figure wearing a top hat and standing next to a tree holding onto a old fashion bicycle . it was me and 2 other friends sitting on the Rock wall back there near the waterfall… When we finally noticed this figure watching us we all kinda just stared at it in shock for a good couple of minutes trying to figure out what the hell it was… I think by the time we realized we couldn’t even make out facial features to it we just all started running in fear… We had all witnessed a ghost for sure… I haven’t been back in those woods since… This happened in 2005-2006? Another memory was going into the attack on one of the tours (it wasn’t apart of the tour but the care taker took us up) it was very cold and you could smell fire… Come to find out there was a fire at the homestead the burned down a section of it… The fire smell we were smelling was from that and the care taker said “the smell comes and goes” one day u can smell it and then others u don’t
… It’s a very creepy , eerie, place but one of my favorite hang out places growing up….
