Freemasons Hotel

You are here Home  > Hotels and Inns >  Freemasons Hotel

This historic hotel dates back to 1861, and is one of the oldest buildings in the shire. The main staircase is the main focus of paranormal activity within the building, where patrons and staff have seen a whole gathering of ghostly guests congregated, dressed in period clothing. Another apparition commonly seen is a lady holding sprigs of lavender and rosemary, who can be seen wandering the hotel hallways. The aroma of the two plants can often be smelt in the rooms of guests. Another aroma smelt is burning feathers, mainly smelt in a guest room where a man accidentally set fire to a bed and burnt to death.

  1. Stayed at Freemasons hotel for work, for many many months. 2 years ago, as I was walking back to my room after using the communal showers I seen a glimpse of a lady with frilly dress and long curled hair. Don’t recall flowers. She had one hand on the staircase as she was standing on the third step from the top. And the other resting Ontop of that.
Spent many nights upstairs, glad I didn’t know it was so haunted to be honest.

  2. I remember going to the Freemasons hotel when I was 13 and trying to find the toilet, I walked down the main corridor and realised I had walked too far as I couldn’t see any toilet signs. I turned around and in that moment there was an elderly male standing about 3 meters from me dressed in a black suit, he was starring straight at me and I thought he was a person not a ghost until he looked away and walked straight through a wall. I ran out of there so fast and till this day I believe that the Freemasons has ghostly hauntings.
