-Built in 1816, Fort Pike was named after Zebulon Pike of Pike’s Peak fame. The site was abandoned in 1890–by the living, anyway. Some say the ghost of a sergeant has been seen about the place, and witnesses have described a feeling of being watched as well as the sound of heavy boots treading the floors. The fort was badly damaged in Hurricane Katrina.

Years ago a friend of mine who was also a co-worker experienced an extremely tormenting experience at Fort Pike. As she and her lover were making out while parked at Fort Pike, unaware they had been followed and were being stalked there by her astranged husband, the husband fired off a gun killing her lover in her arms.
I am not sure what became of the husband or my friend. I do not recall dates though this occurred before Hurricane Katrina perhaps around 1996 (take or give a years.).

I suppose the husband could have been perceived as such. Though he was not in military combat he aimed to kill.
Many years ago I was visiting Fort Pike, actually my boyfriend and I were making out. You see I grew up in Slidell and the fort was where you went for privacy. However, this day I was walking tru the halls and just as I came into this one room a swarm of something like tiny peas came at me, wrapped around me and flew away. It was cold and felt good. I wasn’t interested in anything paranormal at the time and didn’t put two and two together untill years later when I was watchng a ghost haunting show and the same thing was discribed by someone on the show. I can promise you this fort is haunted.
