    1. I’ve seen a shadow walking out and back into casemate number 5 and when i was there for an event one of the guys running the event used a spirit box and i talked to a slave which was named Pete this was in the officers quaters

    2. I spent a wekeend here as part of a reenactment a few years back and sept in the casement-along with about 30 other people and we were told I and another sgt were the scariest things in the fort. The place was over run with children ghost hunting in variably osmethnig that will have the ghosts hiding but i noticed no one was gonig near the torpedo room. This was a block house on the outter wall and everyone was giving it a wide berth. There was just a feeling from it of something dark and hostile.I apologize that this is so subjective but what wa objective was with the places swarming with ghost hunting children and after hours re-enactors, no one was going near that one spot.

    3. My sister and I went in a candle lit ghost tour two year ago. I saw a softball size orb by the stairway next to the officers quarters. The weirdest thing happened when we were standing in front of the commodants quarters. We noticed a 3 people dressed in period clothes walking from the officers to the blacksmiths area. The tour guide commented that we must hurry up because the other tour group must have started. After the tour, we went out and noticed the next group forming around another tour guide. Our, tour guide asked her if another group had gone in there. She replied,”you guys were the only ones in there.”

    4. My aunt and I came here one summer to kill some time before a concert and because we both like the paranormal, it just seemed like a cool thing to do. The place itself is very nice and interesting if you like history. After walking around the grounds a bit, my aunt and I went into some of the place that were said to be haunted to do some investigating.
In the room I believe was the armory, my aunt says she felt like she got touched. Mind you we were in opposite corners and there were no spider webs or things like that. A few minutes later, we went into what was either the soldiers quarters or the jail for captured soldiers, I can’t quite remember. We decided to hold our own evp session and when we went back to listen to the audio, we heard the sound of children laughing. It has been known that the generals would have their families of the premise, but there was also a family with two kids there at the same time we were; we came to the conclusion that that family was nowhere near us at the time of the recording, but you never really know. It was still cool though.
Also, in the same place that we got the recording, I captured a picture of a face. It’s in the left corner over one of the cots and does appear to be looking at the camera. It seems to be male and has a beard. It’s blue and seems to give off it’s own glow as well. To further debunk it, you can see the light coming in through slits in the background, but the light doesn’t go that far into the room nor does it seem to go in that direction. I didn’t see anything there when I caught the picture, only when I checked later.
Overall, the fort is a really cool place and I would love to visit again.

      • The casement-the room you’ve shown the picture of has been different things at different times. It is usually a barracks room. it can also be a store room and for a while, in the civil war, it was a prison.

As i said above i’ve spent the night in one and if you had a bunk near the fire (RHIP) it was fine but people at the far end were pretty cold.

    5. Fort Mifflin has given me several profound experiences with the paranormal including my first evp. The first time visiting there my uncle and I went into Casement 5 to ask some questions hoping to catch our first evp. After asking a bunch of cliche evp session questions I asked: what is the purpose of the holes in the casemate walls? are they for air
or light? Two things happened simultaneously, the word generator my uncle was holding said “Air” which was incredible on its own but Upon playback we got a class a evp that said “Air” at that exact moment. On the drive home we realized that this stuff is real and that it finally happened to us. The pic below was taken a couple minutes after the evp and behind me you can see the holes in walls that we now know is for air and not light!
