The ghost of Mary Surrat, convicted in a plot to assassinate President Lincoln, has been seen here, presumably trying to convince fort guests of her innocence. In Building 21, where John Wilkes Booth was hanged in the attic, may linger in spirit form. Workers here have heard footsteps in the attic and have felt something behind them on the stairs.
