Finch Cemetery

You are here Home  > Cemeteries >  Finch Cemetery

The late-1800s Finch Cemetery at the Jay County Conservation Club is said to hold the grave of a boy named Cinderella. Rumor has it that the gravestones here shift, or disappear. If you count the gravestones on the way to Cinderella’s grave, you will count 13. But on the way back, there are only 11.

  1. My sister and A few cousins and I all went to the Conservation club one night to go ghost hunting, and while we were there, there was a little boy, sitting in the tree, with bright green eyes, just staring at us… it was so scary we flew out of there!

  2. We made it to the cemetery at about 3:30 we could not go further in but right up to the graveyard, we would not go in we wimps, everytime I got closer the woods would crack

  3. It’s not haunted.. get a grip. A little boy in a tree with green eyes. Come on. My parents lived there for years. I grew up running around those grounds.. never had an experience

  4. Grew up in Jay County, the story we were always told was about Mt Zion Cemetery with the counting of the graves. The graves are of a family that all passed away within days of each other. You count the gravestone going one way and count them going back and it changes. Seen this on the Indiana Visitors website and thought I’d share the local legend.

  5. I don’t believe it’s hainted I believe it’s all about the perspective on the way you look at the graveyard coming in and leaving.

  6. I went with a group of ppl. And as we found nothing while we were there. As we we’re leaving …the car wouldn’t start and drains car battery and phones .creepy but didnt see r hear anything.

  7. If you look at the tombstone of Cinderella, it clearly says, “Dau. of….” this tells me that Cinderella is not actually a boy, but a DAUGHTER, a little girl. Otherwise, the tombstone would say “Son of.. “.

  8. I once went here with a few people, and it was around 9:30.. 10 at night, and we where walking around in here looking around. And so as we where about to leave a semi came down the road, faster then anyone would. But before we left a friend had a radio to call Cinderella to talk to us, but we got a male… My friend talked to him, and all he said was “Water” when we left everyone counted 12 steps back

  9. Friend of mine took this picture at paradise pointe campground which is just roughly 2 miles from the Finch Cemetery. The same day this pic was taken, he said him and his friends kept hearing mumbling voices while going through the campground’s golf course
