Faust Hotel - Faust Landmark

You are here Home  > Restaurants and Bars >  Faust Hotel - Faust Landmark

This old hotel was reportedly remodeled into housing for seniors. The basement used to hold a bar and bowling alley, but it hasn’t been used since the 1980s. An eerie presence can be felt here, as well as sudden temperature changes and an overwhelming urge to leave the area. The same presence is sometimes felt in the kitchen area and on the 11th floor, which once was the site of the hotel’s ballroom.

  1. Went to the Faust Landmark on Saturday, May 10, 2014. Got on the elevator and pushed the button. Just before the door opened a female voice said, “This is the 8th.” Thing is, I was alone.

  2. I used to go downtown on most weekends and there is a popular late night greasy spoon called “Uncle Nicks” across the parking lot from the old Faust. You have to pass the building to get to Nicks on foot if coming from downtown. That place gives off a strange feel even from the outside. You want to get out of it’s shadow as soon as you can. It’s a very ominous building. It has character, I’ll give it that.

  6. In the 90s I new a security guy that worked there and he took us to the Faust Hotel he had keys to the building. We went to the basement to the bar and bowling alley. It was so cold gave us a wierd feeling. It looked like it was just abandoned in the middle of a busy night. The bowling balls were still on the ball machine bowling shoes scattered the cash register was open trophy still displayed in cabinets. It was very erie. So about a year ago my husband and I were cleaning a old barn in oregon il. We found a ton of old keys and one of them is a Faust Hotel key room 522. With the tag that reads Rockfords Newest and Best Hotel. HOTEL FAUST Rockford IL. it is pretty cool.
