Built in 1895, this historic mansion is rumoured to be haunted by two or more ghosts. The spirit of a young girl in an old-fashioned dress has been seen peering out from the first floor bay window, and the upstairs nursery was once the scene of a tragic suicide.

FW Schuerenberg was my great grandfather. My father Schuerenberg Joseph Marek lived in this house while growing up. and never heard stories about happenings My father died, suicide not in Texas, when I was 13. Would really like more information. Had contact with my aunt and visited this house and asked questions about family but no comments about ghost.
My friend and I were bored and looking for something to do on a saturday night. We were cruising downtown and came about the Schuerenberg house. We walked up the steps to check it out and we all felt a very malicious presence and immediately left the building. Haven’t gone back since.
I am one of the current owners of the house. We have heard that previous buyers were deterred by rumors about hauntings and a tragic suicide, but we have decided to brave it! We have experienced a few strange phenomena, but have attributed them to the normal aches and pains of an older home. Restoration has been slow (ongoing since 2016) and it is an enormous project, but we love the place and are trying to make it less ghastly and ghostly while maintaining the integrity of the home as much as possible. Marilyn Marek Smith–we did inherit a few documents and letters with the place. Please repost if you are interested in seeing any of them.
