Among the figures people claim to see are a lady in white (usually in the garden), two other women in one of the bedrooms, and a horseman outside of the building.

  1. I studied at Dartington Hall from 1969 to 1970. The Lady in White never materialised but I did see another lady. I was in digs at Follaton and had to walk down the front drive on some very dark nights. Very often we would wait at the school until several students could walk together as there were no street lights then. So there were about a dozen of us who set out one night down the long Front Drive. We had walked quite a long way and were getting close to the iron gates. We saw a short cloaked female person coming towards us on the opposite side of the road. She was very odd looking as she walked with overly large strides and very quickly. She was obviously talking to herself. I thought it was a drama student perhaps rehearing her line and we just walked on. Two minutes later she came again. We all panicked and ran for the gates. There is really no way she could have walked all the way around both front and back drives and no cars passed us on the road.
I can see every detail again as I write this and 12 people can’t all be wrong!
