Colorado Grande Casino

You are here Home  > Hotels and Inns >  Colorado Grande Casino

Built in 1896, the Colorado Grande Casino and Hotel is believed to be haunted by a ghost called Maggie, an rose-scented Irish woman in turn-of-the-century clothes. Her apparition sometimes shows up playing slot machines with a male ghost, or else simply appears as a blue light. Another ghost, that of a young girl called Lily, is said to linger on Bennett Avenue near the hotel. Legend has it that Lily loves purple balloons, and when one is left for her, it can be seen floating around as if being played with by unseen hands. Balloons left for her in other colors will simply pop.

  1. Some years ago my wife heard a woman crying in the woman’s restroom at the Colorado Grande that was so real she started to feel bad for her thinking she had lost a lot of money or something. It was loud enough that my wife, out of curiosity, tried to see who it was in the next stall and upon examination saw there wasn’t anyone there.

  2. So here’s my full story of what happend at Maggie’s Restraunt in Cripple Creek, Keep in mind this is my first experience with anything spiritual and I knew nothing of this history of the building, it was also our first time to visiting Cripple Creek. 8/27/18

Ok so what happend last night was we walk into this restraunt called Maggie’s to have dinner and get seated switched tables becuase I didn’t like the one we were at and then we were sat at this round table in the corner. Not many people there at all just one other couple. Any way I turned to my husband and said I don’t feel right I feel a very heavy dark feeling then I started to smell cigarette smoke so I pulled my on guard sanitizing spray out sprayed my hands thinking it would help the smell, still couldn’t handle the smell and put my Peace oil on (helps with my anxiety) and kept breathing it in. I asked my husband and kids if they could smell it and they all said no. Next thing I know the waitress is over at our table so I asked her about the heavy feeling and that I was feeling pressure in my chest she started telling me that it’s normal not everyone experiences it and welcome to the spiritual side and continued to tell us that this place use to be a morgue!!! I was like are you serious! Next thing I know I’m crying, for literally no reason and out of nowhere, I couldn’t control it. I didn’t know what was going on I had to grab my jacket and walk outside for a few minutes to calm down. I went back in smell was gone but felt nauseous and had a slight headache. I asked our waitress if she had ever seen this happen to someone and she said she’s never seen someone be affected like that before but just told me to embrace the experience.

Well my experience didn’t end there tho, also had an experience at the Gold King Mountain Inn!
