A chambermaid who hung herself in 1885 is still seen here. In the cellar, staff and visitors believe a wolf can be heard howling. In Room 16, poltergeist activity is common and said to be blamed on a guest who died in the room. A cavalier and Edwardian boy have also been seen despite no explanation.

  1. In reference to the chambermaid she can be seen standing by one of the windows looking out to one of he streets it was said she was waiting for her lover to return but he never did and another thing is I think she might of been pregnant from memory.

  2. Believe it or believe it not .
I stayed overnight in Room 21 of the Castle Hotel, Neath on Tuesday night 22nd Nov 2022.
All was well until I settled down and started to unwind from the days work locally.
As I settled, a loud thud was heard on the headboard right behind my head.
I jumped up startled and examined the headboard- it was fixed to the wall so I ruled out me not knowingly moving it to create the thud.
I once again settled down and some 20 minutes later an even louder thud had me jumping up once again.
I compensated myself with the thought that it must be the occupants of the room next door.
I settled down and this time went to sleep, the thuds continued at different intervals throughout the night but to be honest, I was so tired that I literally ignored them, content with the thought that it was my ignorant neighbours next door.
Only thing is, on checking with reception whilst I was checking out, I was informed that there was no occupancy in room 20 next door that evening.
Only after knowing this did I look up the history of the hotel, only to find that the blooming place has been acknowledged as being haunted by poltergeist for many years.
