You are here Home  > Colleges and Universities >  University of Central Florida - Carey Hand Building

Now used as a branch office of the University of Central Florida, known as the Ying Academic Center, this was once the Carey Hand Funeral Home. (That company still exists, with numerous Orlando area branches.)

Footsteps and whispering are commonly heard when no one is around.

  1. This building is very haunted.. I worked here when it was a bar. One night, it was very busy. And we ran low on straws and napkins. The Bartender sent me upstairs to get some supplies. Well, I was up there getting supplies and the door slammed shut on me leaving me in darkness. I ran to the door and tried to open it. And it would not budge. I felt a presence with me, I got very dizzy, and fell to my knees. I saw black shadows swirling around me and a buzz of voices. I was so terrified, I screamed and screamed and nobody heard me. Finally they came looking for me and they said that there was no lock on that door. I know it was locked. Needless to say I quit. I will not even walk by this building today. I still have nightmares about this
