Bennett Home

You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  Bennett Home

The Bennett Home was purchased by the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) in 1982. Rumor has it that the apparition of a woman appeared at the DAR’s first monthly tea in the house. The ghost was determined to be a former resident who lived in the home around 1910.

  1. I am a member of that DAR Chapter. That NEVER happened. The DAR did nother acquire that lovely home until the 1980s. Some feel they catch a whiff of cigar smoke from time to time (the original owner and builder LOVED them), but that is all. Sorry…

My mom has the listing on this hose when it was sold to the DAR , and I was asked to to some groundskeeping and to water the yard when to was first sold . I knew nothing at the time of the haunting of the place , but the place did give off a weird vibe , and it just felt heavy there for a high school kid . I had access to the house but didnt spend much time in there alone as the lac e gave me the creeps .

One night I had a dream of being there at work , when I saw a man in the window upstairs , a pale man with a close trimmed beard and staring eyes . I also had the impression in the dream that there was some sort of reaching out from the spirit to try to make connection with the living ., The primary feeling was coldness , and loneliness .

The next day I asked about it , and was told I probably saw the ghost ,

I never went back into the house again during that job and soon moved on to something else . I have been back in the house , but years later , and never alone , just too creepy .

I think the ghost just likes having people around and has the desire to be among the living .

  3. My father’s friend live in that house one night while watching tv the family witnessed a vase move over and gently float to the floor.
