    1. My husband and I spent our engagement night at this beautiful mansion. After going to bed, I was awakened with a feeling that someone was watching me. When I looked to the left of the room there was a figure standing in the corner of the room. I was so scared I could not speak. I finally was able to wake my husband and when he turned the light on, nothing was there. Thinking it was my imagination, I went back to sleep. An hour or two later, I was again awakened by the heaviest pressure on my chest, I could not breathe or move. I finally reached for my husband and yelled for him to wake. The light came on and everything stopped.
The next morning, we went down to check out of the inn. The Innkeeper congratulated us and asked his we slept. I immediately told him not well and began to tell my story, expecting him to think I was crazy.
His reply was, “well Ms Heather, I believe you have met our Gentleman Caller”.
Needless to say, I was shocked.

My husband and I returned to The Battery Carriage a few years later to celebrate our anniversary. My Caller did not return.
