I worked as a counselor at this facility for several years, and have too many stories and accounts about all the paranormal activity in this building. It was built sometime in the early 1900’s and transported to Florida from some other state. My boss told me that the original owner committed suicide in a room upstairs right above the office I used to work in. In addition to the owner, many other spirits of addicts who lost their lives frequent the building in the form of orbs and shadows. My boss has been in practice over 26 years in Ocala, and states that she has felt and seen the presence of many of her former clients.

While working at CATS, here are some of the things I experienced: Orbs flying through most of the rooms downstairs (the upstairs was off-limits because it was vacant) , disembodied sounds and voices, dark shadows appearing, the radio would turn off or become fuzzy and incoherent, screams from upstairs, footsteps on the staircase and upstairs are most commonly reported by the AA and NA groups who use the building after business hours. Once, my boss and I were standing having a conversation by the front door entrance when her keys flew right out of her hands and straight into a Mona Lisa picture…right on her heart. I have had my hair messed with and have been lightly touched and caressed. These are just a FEW of the experiences I have had, but others who have come to group meetings during and after business hours have also reported strange occurrences. My boss, as well as former employees will also coincide with these stories. I truly believe that this may be one of the most haunted locations in Ocala, if not all of Central Florida. No one really would know because it is an addiction treatment center, but I never was a believer in paranormal things until I started working there.

The website for CATS is catsofocala.com, and you can go on the site and view pictures of the old house and the interior.
